welcome to the 30 somethings

I have been 30 for almost eight months now and I love it! For my birthday I had a few close friends over for drinks, cake and a dance party, there is always a dance party. Oh, and a couple of my friends decorated the house while I was at work. Here are a few pictures from that evening.

a new year

I am so excited for my second annual NYE party. Last year was so much fun, I wish I could skip Christmas and go right to getting ready for my party. I love transforming my house into party time USA. I love all the sparkles and colors that I feel come with the new year celebration as well as the dressing up in your best party attire. To me it's like a mix between halloween and your holiday best. I think gaudy, big, sparkly, lace-y, bold and bright or dark and dramatic. I have been planning and have some great new ideas and hope to see everybody that attended last year and a few more. I even have big plans for the third annual, but I have to try and not get too ahead of myself, I just get so excited!!

frienship

Friends are VERY important to me, I would do most anything for my dearest friends in a time of need. I am very choosy when it comes to those I hold near and dear and I think I have chosen very well. I love my friends very much and I think they are the greatest people in the world. They are who influence me the most and who have helped me become the person I am today. I think we don't tell people enough how much we appreciate them of how they have been such and influence in our lives. I have friends all over the U.S. and I don't get to see them very often or even talk to them, but when I do get to, it's like no time has gone by. Here are a few of them.

old man winter

This is not a picture of old man winter, this is my Ben last year on a winter hike. I am getting super exited for the first snow fall. I love living in Michigan and having all for seasons, I feel like its the only place where winter is winter, summer is summer and so on. I look forward to all seasons, but in winter I love the smell of the pine trees, snow, cookies and other bake goods and fire places burning wood, especially at the lodge when you go skiing. I love the sounds too, I love how in the winter everything is so silent, all you can hear are your footsteps crunching in the snow and a few birds or a rustling squirrel or deer. I love winter activities as well like; cross country skiing, sledding, hiking, snowshoeing and building snow people and then the way you feel when you come in from a day of playing in the snow, the hot burny feet, hands and cheeks and the way a hot cup of coffee or cocoa makes you feel... Ohh I can't wait! I actually enjoy shoveling my driveway too, for at least the first month of winter. Old Man winter, I am ready for your yearly visit.

I FINALLY uploaded the digital pictures I took from this summer. It was a really great summer, I had a dear friend get married, spent a lot of time at the house playing in the yard, fostering a litter of kittens and their momma, walking to the beach and went on a road trip to the New England states to visit friends and Acadia Nat. Park. Here are a few shots from our adventures...
